Probiotics can boost happiness
According to the Body Talk section of the Mirror, bacteria known
as probiotics can make people feel happier, German research has shown. A group
of people suffering from stress were given a daily Multibionta tablet, which combines
three strains of probiotic bacteria, as well as vitamins and minerals. During
the six-month trial, the participants reported that they felt more alert, confident
and outgoing. This is thought to be because probiotic bacteria prompt the body
to release tryptophan, a chemical that is then converted to serotonin, a hormone
which increases feelings of happiness and calm.
