Introduction
With the withdrawal of an three major arthritis (e.g. Vioxx, Celebrex Coproxamol) drug products over the last three months, sufferers have been calling us to ask about natural pain relief alternatives.
Firstly if you don’t know the background to these serious withdrawals and also some stories on existing pain relief drugs which you should be concerned with, we have put together some Press release extracts to help you understand the background to the withdrawal.
What Can I do to replace these Drugs which are now banned?
We can't promise you total relief through the use of natural complementary options, as pain is the body 's way of delivering a warning message. For those of you who didn't receive our recent newsletter concerning "Silent Pain", please take a moment to read the extract.
Natural Alternatives and why they may help.

- Firstly, you should always consult with your physician before considering complementary therapy.
- Secondly, we don't make any health claims concerning the products mentioned below.
- Finally, I'd like to talk about my personal experience, transcending from a life of chronic pain to what is now a much more comfortable existence.
I'm not sure, but I believe my personal pain problem culminated from years of violent sports activity including Football, Martial Arts and Golf (Golf A Violent Sport? You should see me when I miss a put!!!)which initially manifested itself with lower back pain and later to mid, upper and neck pain.
I spent a small fortune on Physiotherapy, Chiropractic and Osteopathy and did get some relief particularly from Chiropractic. but the pain eventually returned to the point where sleeping was well nigh impossible. During this time I was taking painkillers by the handful and reached a point where my stomach couldn't take anymore and was rushed to hospital with a perforated duodenal ulcer.
Strangely the doctors warned me off taking any more NSAIDs (In my case Neurofen) way before the concerns for Cox 2 inhibitors and NSAIDS were voiced. (Did they know something then?)
When my partner, Lynn, founded the company, I began to experiment with natural products.....
My first discovery was Green Lipped Mussel which seems to have a degree of anti inflammatory effect. Farmed from the coast of New Zealand and only available along a relatively short stretch of coast. This natural alternative has a growing following amongst pain sufferers.
I also discovered the potential of Glucosamine, I had tried Glucosamine previously and had not seen any particular evidence of improvement in my condition, and therefore was quite sceptical.
The third part of the equation came about when we began to take a close interest in the research around Omega 3 Fatty Acids and I began a course in conjunction with the Green Lipped Mussel and glucosamine. Within two to three months I could sense an improvement and whilst not out of pain, was able to reduce my painkillers to just a few per week.
And it was this third part of the equation that really provided me with a drastic reduction in pain levels. The effect for me was noticeable within four weeks, and although from time to time I cease the dosage, just to check.
I feel that these natural food supplements have improved my condition significantly. I very rarely use any conventional pain relief. If I do get a bad day, I will only take Paracetamol and certainly will not go anywhere near a Cox2 or NSAID product.
If you have read the Silent Killer article you will begin to understand the problems encountered in solving your personal pain issue. The Cox 2 and NSAID drugs mask the pain but that's all. Additionally the body is sending out a signal that all is not well, and in my case having suffered a heart attack seven years ago, I make sure I take enough Omega 3 to ingest at least 1000mg of EPA Omega 3 per day and at least 1000mg of DHA Omega 3 per day. The DHA in my case is for heart protection and increasingly the research is pointing to this element of Fish Oil being important for all of us who have a heart problem or who wish to protect against the future possibility.
Finally, if you get a moment please take a look at the news section, which contains the latest information on the status of Cox 2, NSAIDS and complementary product research.
Kind Regards
Dave Ferguson
